Anyideas if its even possible to divide a bow front tank?
New tank is coming tomorrow and its a bow front and Im considering dividing it and getting a new male in a few weeks or so but Im not sure if I can.
Anyone done it?

It is possible. This is one of our tanks which is slightly bow fronted and we managed to divide it for 2 males.

I managed to divide a 65L bow, you just need to bend the front bit a little and lots of silicone.

I've got divided a bow front tank (my boyfriend did it for me)

He said that he thinks the best thing to use is glass. Get it cut to size by someone who knows what they are doing with it, then silicone it in all round the edges. That's if you wanted two seperate compartments totally. But if not, I'd use some perspex (can't spell ^^) and drill small holes in it, silicone it in place, and you're done.

With my bow front, he used a sheet of perspex, sanded it to give it a frosted affect, then siliconed it in place, let it dry and made sure it was sealed.. I wanted two seperate tanks *duno why*. But it worked for me ;)

Is that an aquaone tank? Isn't that a bit small for two bettas? :S and the one on the right looks like my Fred :p

Awesome and I googled that tank and its the same size as mine so atleast I know they will be fine in it.

Also Netty do you have any pics of your newest Males for sale/coming up as I may chase you for the newest addition :p

We don't have many males at the moment. We have two dragon PK males which are available now and also a lovely long finned black and silver dragon male but waiting for someone to get back to me about him.

These are the two PKs

He is lovely and there is a pic of his brother who is virtually identical, in the spawning thread that we hope to breed from soon :good:

I have the same tank as Netty and have divided it myself. I bought a Penplax set and cut/hacked the plastic to fit. Used suction cups to hold it in place and put the gravel around it. I had to put a peice of plastic across the top under the lid as my betta like to jump into each others sides....

I added a powerhead to the other side today because one filter is not enough for some reason...
I would of loved a black divider but blue seemed to be their only colour..

It looks absolutely beautiful!
I wonder, though, if they'll get stressed if they can always see each other, or do you have something to put between for that as well?
I suppose even an opaque sheet of thin-but-not-sharp plastic would do, really.

Ive recently divided a number of my tanks, due to breeding etc, i use perspex as its easy to work with and not brittle. What i found to work was get an old pair of tights, pref black, cut off and slide over the perspex carefully, this allows the water to flow thru, but stops fry getting out and blocks the view of the other fish :)

just buy a piece of eggcrate lighting diffuser from your local hardware store and cut it to size

Hi

We have used the penplax dividers a lot. At first they are clear, but after a few weeks start to turn opaque. We've never had a problems between males peering through :) They will flare and show off to start with, but they soon settle down once they realise they cant get through.

Yeah mine went an opaque colour after a few months so all they can see is a shilloutte :D Ramjet always stalks Shimmer when he can see his shadow lol. Quite entertaining. Im having a filtration issue right now/water flow through the divider so have a power head on the other side to.

We found that too so added a piece of tubing with holes in which fed through the divider into the otherside.

You can see it in this pic
