i went to revy/rona... its like home depot.... they sell this stuff thats like plastic cardboard..... cant remember what they called it but if u say plastic cardboard they will know what u mean... i paid $6 CDN for a pretty big piece... i used about 1/8th of it to divide my 10 gallon tank.... used another 1/8th to make a lid for one of my tanks... the stuff is pretty easy to cut and it works quite well

Its called Correx Board ofer here. I have about 400 2 ft square pieces of it in my garage as I use it in my job. Nice idea.

I guess I will have to cut little holes in it though to allow circulation

yea.. i tried little slits in the top like someone said but my bettas keept jumping overe them kinda to check out what was on the other side... i think ill have to get a thick pin and poke a bunch of holes or something cause 1 side doesnt really get any circulation which isnt great... the holes should provide some circulation.. it wouldprobably help if i put the bubble thingy closer to the divider :D

I would think it would have to be pretty strong for an overflow box. I'd use 6mm or thicker, which I suspect this isn't, but I could be wrong -_-
The reason for this is that it would have to hand on the side of the tank and support its own weight and also the weight of the water in it. also, it it did fail, then it would mean getting a wet carpet :X

ste :)

stolen pic of a tank with a built on Overflow box. Overflows are usually in a tank if they have a bulk head. or a hob thing using siphoning (which are not as good as built in ones). It seems to be getting more popular esp w nano folks to put them on the outside.
STOLEN PIC HERE!!!
