so its a subject that i bet crops up lot, but just wondering if there are many cons about them? ive got a 70L tank i was going to use for BBG's but i thought..hey i could get 3 new bettas!!

i could split it into 3 sections and they would have more room than my existing guys...so i know how to divide the tank but how does everyone find them?...does it matter much about flow?

Thanks

Danny

I have a 10 gallon tank divided into three. I find it works great, no problems with bettas jumping, hopefully it'll stay that way. ;) The only con I can think of is that if one betta gets sick with something contagious, you run the risk of the others catching it as well. But then again, you also deal with that problem with any fish in a community tank. As for flow, I used to run a filter on mine, but the filter isn't adjustable and was just too much, so I don't use it. The boys like it and make huge bubblenests which are left undisturbed by current. ^_^ I just do big water changes every week.

3 new bettas... very exciting. :D :flowers:

I put a post up in the for sale section on this one here http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=135530

I opted for the UG Filter as it lowered the amount of surface movement for the bettas. It also provided a more even filtration rather than having a fluval 2+ in one corner trying to suck the water all the way through. The heat displacement is also even throughout all 6 sections as i have a thermometer in each section to monitor it.

I have a similar arrangement but my dividers are porous with an internal filter at one end.As for temperature I put the thermometer at the lowest (heat rises even in water) and furthest away point from the heater. There should be a minimal gap at the bottom of the divider say 1mm to allow a flow across. The only drawback with the porous dividers is that the lads can see each other and swim to the 'wall' to flare and show aggression at each other but this lessens when they are preoccupied by the girls.....plus ca change! lol........
