hi there,

recently cured my dwarf rainbow of white fungus but now one of my angel has become distressed!

he has a bloated stomach and has what looks like red worms coming out of the bottom of him, they are not moving or wriggling, it just looks like a clump of stuffed red string.

he is still moving k, but has become more shy and moved to the back of the tank?

any ideas?

A picture would help. Camallanus worms come to mind, though it could be a prolapse.

ok, am at work so cant take a photo.

The best i can describe it is as like a clump of red string coming out of him, he is also very bloated. From looking at pictures of cammallanus worms i think it could well be that.

is their a risk of it spreading to my other fish? also what is the best cure for it?

how did it get in there?

cheers

bump....

going to LFS at lunch to buy some meds, really worried it will spread to my BN and my shoal of harlequins and pristella tetra

hi,

been to two LFS and neither have a de-wormer, have done quite a bit of research and it seems to be flubenol that is the best treatment but i cant find anywhere that sells it, the active ingredient is flubendazole....and i think this product has it as its main ingredient...can anyone confirm that this will do the trick?

or know of anything else that may do the job?

ok i have bought something else as wanted to have it delivered for tomorrow..i bought it off ebay from scottish-discus

this is it http://www.petsparade.co.uk/aquarium/aquar...atments/?p=4493

hope it will still do the job, have research for a few hours and it has the active ingredient flubendazole so hopefully should do the job, reviews say that it has been effective....what you reckon?

Wormer plus dosn't always work on camallanous worms so let us all know how you get on.

oh great!

was getting very urgent and they said they could deliver next day so went with them...already lost one angel so really dont want to lose this one, both have been raised since very small.....

will they worms have infected the rest of the fish in my tank? i did QT for a week ,but guess the lifecycle of the worms is quite long and didnt show up untill they are in my tank?

has anyone had success with wormer plus?

does the one you reccomend work well then? any success stories?

out of interest is this a common disease? as when i rung my LFS they said, and i quote "fish cant get worms so there is nothing on the market for it!!!"

I will get you a thread to take a look at.
Ask about wormer plus in tropical discussion more members go over there.

Can't find the thread typical on this site.
What does it say in the med instructions about camallanous worms.
Usually you have to treat again to kill the young.
