I got these little chaps a couple of weeks ago, they’re in a 20G (UK) and will shortly be moving to a 50G (UK), I don’t do anything special with my water, I just age with bubbles and a drop of Tetra Aquasafe and heat it for a day or so in an 8 gallon bucket.

I have 4, all around 2.5”, they aren’t on their own, there’s a few cardinals to make them feel safer and a couple of baby kribs from my other tank.

They get a water change of 30% and a wipe down every 2 days. They eat absolutely everything, they get fed mostly frozen food (discus food, bloodworm, brineshrimp and mysis shrimp) 3 to 4 times a day with a bit of prima and flake here and there.

In the 2 weeks I’ve had them they have grown around half an inch and started to show brilliant colours.
They’re the first discus I’ve had but its easy to see how they get the title “King of the Aquarium”

Just a couple of shots, taken without flash to show their colours better, sadly the quality isn't too great

Very nice fish. I love it when people do videos. Your Cardinal Tetra looks quite plump! Is that how they look when adult? I have 10 that I had at Xmas time and they are not as plump as that. :) I feed my fish a variety of food and when I put Catfish Pellets in (for the Pleco really) all the fish dive for them, especially the Cardinals.

Thanks,

Morgan - The cardinals are about 1 inch, they've been eating frozen food a few times a day for the last 2 weeks so i think thats why they're plump, they're gorgeus fish tho

willtang - thanks, the kribs are some babys from my other tank, they're showing good colours and patterns

Awesome discus, they have good colors and look very healthy. I want some but I have no job and can't afford 40 dollars per fish right now.

Nice Discus. I live in the westmidlands, i've been told my water is too hard for Discus :(

don't believe everything you hear about discus as gospel the discus I have were kept in hard water are about 8 years old I believe and I had them because the couple split up and the lady couldn't stand putting her hand in tank.
go steady with feeding or you will get water quality issues

I love those discus,
Can never help thinking they look like cross Ram :p

Thanks for the advice and comments, i make sure any uneaten food is taken out as soon as possible.

i've also added a couple of baby bristlenose in there now so they're eating anything that gets left
