Discus&tank Size

guess whos back!! odettes back!!

actually this isnt for me, it's for my friend who wants to setup a discus tank in her 30 gallon tank. i would have loved to give her the perfect advice, but sadly, as an oddball expert, i dont know much about cichlids..at all. and id hate to give false advice.

how many discus should i recommend to her?? shes planning to keep cardinals and corys and maybe some other tiny fish with them. she was thinking either one or two, but heres the curiosity: will a discus be lonely if kept alone?? and what if she gets two discus but end up being the same sex, would it cause some kind of dominance problems??

and they are not as hard as they are rated for, right? shes pretty experienced fishkeeper, had all kinds of fish from barbs to marine tanks, just never discus.

any information would be helpful!!

p.s. i just got a 4" ornate bichir like two weeks ago!!!!!!!!!!!!! isnt that exciting i named him Bichet Jr. after my beloved friend Bichet. you should read more about bichet from oddball section :] omgoshh better yet, i should post something there about my bichet jr!! yayyyy

none, 30 gal is too small, unless you get a breeding pair in which case they will want the tank to themseves

you need to get to 50 gal or so
