Disaster And A Word Of Warning

Sad to hear about your tank anougher way to stop this happening is putting tie wraps around all the connections or those little hose clamps used for petrol lines on cars just don't put those In the tank lol

Hi Guys,
Having now rescued 4 fish from the tank syphoning disaster of 2 weeks ago, I added 5 more zebra Danios to keep the sole survivor happy which seems to work ok. I Algae Eater and 2 Corys seems ok. However since the 100% water change I am getting lots of fine green algae, especially on the plants. Now it may have been starting before the disaster but it certainly seems worse now. The lights are on for 12 hrs and the tank gets some sunlight but not too much, what else can I do to combat this?

well 12 hours plus daylight = algae nightmare so i suggest you cut lighting back to 5 hours max at a time when you look at the tank the most. For me its 5pm till 10pm.

I've just set up a spare little tank in the hope of breeding my cories in there. I've had to put a bubble stone in as I can't afford (or justify) a new filter for something that may only be used for a few weeks.

I'm now paranoid this is going to happen to me and my cories mean the world to me so I'd be deverstated. The air pump is sitting higher than the tank and I've put a check valve in the airline pipe just out of the water. Will it be okay?

Just do t have the stone at the very bottom of the tank lol it's so obvious. Mines about 6" down the 14" wall which means only 6" of water can drain before it stops!!!!

this little tank is only 8 inches in depth so could be a problem
