Within the time span of about 12 hours I've had a giant danio disapear.... Quite puzzling. I'm thinking one of the following happened:
1) He jumped out through the small opening toward the back of the tank where the HOB filters are. although I haven't found him on the floor anywhere

2) He died and the others ate him leaving no trace. Kinda weird, any other time this has happened to me I usually find part of a fish remaining uneaten

3) Still hiding, although the only place I could really see this happen is if he is sharing the cave with the black ghost knife fish. Not too likely, the bgk doesn't allow anyone else in his cave, I doubt he fell in love with a danio and decided to share space

I've eliminated:
the possibility of hiding in the filter

any other thoughts, what do you think happened?

Do you have pets that could of eaten him.

I had a tetra do that once. Poof! gone. The filter didnt chew it, I didnt find it partially eaten and it's never been seen since. -_-

yep ive had a tetra dissapear
an hour before he was swimming around
then he was gone
then i noticed my catfish had a biiiig belly!

I have no pets besides the fish. So thats not the answer - although that would be a pretty good guess if I did have other pets.

I just examined the tank again, he didn't reappear (so either still hiding or not there)

pulled out all the things around the tank so I could see if he did jump out and I couldn't find him. How far do you think a danio could get if it were flopping around on the ground?

I just can't imagine that the other fish could eat the whole danio, not leaving any bones or anything to find.

quite odd

I've had a skunk loach vanish for 3 months, and then when I cleaned out the tank completly he suddenly came back

mystery solved.

He made it up the filter intake. I didn't notice him because the water was still running around him.

Anyone know how to get a fish out of a whisper filter intake tube????

Or bless him, turn the filter off probably no but just to make sure.

I had a wcmm disapear, it was a ugf so it didn't ge in there and the top is tight no way he could of gotten out plus I don't think there jumpers haven't seen it in 4 months so must be agonner I doubt anything else would eat it too te other minnows picked at a nothe one that died but that was all plus it floated at the top so nothing for the frogs to eat and too big to go down frog throat eaither nor do frogs have teeth

I think it'l remain a mystery (mine)
