Dinosaur Eel Anyone?

Well, I doubt that he has a gobi dragon, I have 2 in my community tank and they wouldn't know what to do with a fish if it was put in their mouth. I have a lot of fry in that tank and I've seen a tiny little fry fishie go into the open mouth of the gobi and swim out again unharmed.

its actually my next tank. I'm gonna build it out of acrylic. Will cost me $170 total. I can get a great deal on acrylic cuz to size too!!!!! A 90 gal would cost me around 150 so i figure what the hell. I donno what i'ma put in it though, still figuring that out. I want a few bichir, a jardini, a jag, a trimac, and a festae. So i gotta make some decisions on what to get!!

As im sure your aware the bichirs wont do well with large aggressive cichlids, their just not built for withstanding attacks.Theyre best off being kept with large peacefull fish.If you get a few bichirs then make sure you introduce them all together and that they are all roughly the same size, they will fight at first but will settle down after a while, new bichirs added after this will be given hell.

Wow....my bichir is about six inches as of now...I have him in a 20 gal. tank w/ 2 angels that I adopted from the store... I had to move him after he decided to eat most of my harliquin ras. school...he has a couple temporary tank mates while i fix a mistake with my other tank...(i gravel vac'ed and it really didnt need it...) but i put 2 small feeders in there and he ate them in about 20mins...but he also eats bloodworms and brine shrimp...(his name is doc, and i think i will try and get a pic up later....does any-one else name there fish?

Call me weird but i don't name my fish. I notice most ppl here do though. :p

I guess i dont know how to put pix on here but i got it up in the how to upload pix....section so check him out if you like....hes a monster

Braddah if you have the picture on your harddrive, go to the member pictures section and post a new topic. At the bottom under the button Post Topic, you will see a letterbox with a browse button. Hit the button, locate the picture and then hit Post topic. Otherwise you must have the picture uploaded to a server on the web and hit the img button above and provide the url to the picture that way.

braddah have you found any info on the eel i want one but i dont know what levels the guy likes the water temp and things like that. if you have and info can you email it to [email protected] thanks a a lot!! :S

Bognials if you already have a ornate bichir then why do you need additional info?
Bichirs all require the same sort of care and will feed on the same foods.

i think i have one too. sounds like my fish. look up rope fish because that is what i'm leaning towards

I have one that is about 13" long, not sure about the kicking ass though  mine is very shy and will only come out from under her piece of bogwood when the lights go out,i even have to put my hand in the tank and feed her fish because she is so slow at getting to the food the other fish in the tank would steal it otherwise.Bichirs are very active as juveniles but become more and more secretive as they grow, great fish though and amazing to watch feed,if you can see them .
Why wait till you get a 190g? A 75 is more than adequate to keep one in,their not the most active of fish and are not particularly fast swimmers (comical is what springs to mind),go on treat yourself and get one.
i was going to post the same thing. they're impressive looking but quite slow. i had to more or less slap my birchir with the lancefish to get him to realise it was food and he never really came out in day. at night you could see him very active. nice fish tho
