Hi, my mother inlaw bought two 'dime fish' (pronounced as in the coin) about 4 months ago.

she recently introduced three apple snails into the tank, overnight one died from having the tip of its shell taken off, the other two were moved into my tank and have done well even though i have an adult red fiddler crap(who takes no notice of them).

the trouble is we dont know what killed the other snail and traumatised the surviving two.

The tank also features a silver shark( about 6"), which was observed nibbling at the holes of the dead snail's shell.

We want to rehome the fish thats killing the alge eating snails but we're unsure who's the culprit. My own tank as pritty much the same creatures in but on a larger scale. the only difference is the 'dime' fish and the silver shark.

I cant seem to find much information on these fish when i google them, i can only presume this is a shop name for them that varies from region to region

Where did you get that link, mine just goe's to google images!!

Silver dollar are nice but scatty fish they dont like being disturbed and shocked, they get quite large and need a large tank to be happy, they dont eat fish but all fish will eat very small fish given a chance.

How odd. So some people are calling small silver dollars "dimes"? And what a weird photoshopped pic you stumbled upon.

Glad you got an ID for your fish though.

I would run some anti-spyware software if I were you mate. Seems like your browser has been 'jacked.

Thats what i was thinking.

Their is spyware that redirects links to the spammers sites so they get money from advertising etc etc.

I don't think that he has spyware, one of the images on that search leads to a page with that image. Unless google takes him directly to it.

Couldn't have put it better myself :good:

how big is this tank that all these fish are in?

and did it take you directly to it or did you click on pictures to get that link?

I've found it it's the link with all the coins (worth100.com)

It's a site which hosts loads of doctered photo's some are quite cool if you get the time the check them out.

So no it's not jacking or spy software luckerly, i used to get problems with hijacking software till i realised it was msn plus causing it i hate programs which hide these nasty things in them!!!
