Dijon Has Spawned

they are growing very well

So you want more pics, ok then here are a few. I can't realy tell any difference in colour, they seem to be more or less the same at the moment. Just maybe a little bit bigger, and harder to photograph as they won't stay still long enough for a good pic. 3 best shots out of 110

Wow they do look amazing. Proper mini bettas now. Looks like their tails have gotten a bit redder since the last lot of pics. Do you any ideas about the tail type yet? I can't remember if you already said what you were expecting

awsome thread
maybe you should make a cleaner thread for the section with just the pics of all the stages and get it pinned
im now watching this to see how they develop make me want to do this lol

Are you able to get black worms?? I would maybe suggest going this route and feeding not only that but start feeding frozen foods, brine shrimp, bloodworms, dalphinia with your live feedings but stay away from pellets and staple foods. I think its about time for the change in food ^^

Colour is really coming along. Not bad for a first time breed of them ^^

Already I'm thinking they are going to be lookers, well done. :good:

Thank you, I do hope so, just what they finaly look like still remains a mystery.

Lol, ive not seen this thread in ages.

Well done, they look great! :)

Thank you.

They're very sweet! :) How long til they're old enough to sell?

Thank you, I belive its about 3 months. With these it will be longer due to my work commitments, messing up the feeding routine.

good stock!

I think theyre starting to take "betta" shape now (no punn intended)

Thank you, Yes they are definatly shaping into real bettas now.

Thank you, That picture that I think that you looked at is a bit miss leading, there are a few of them with a stronger red colouring to them. Tail type, I'll have to put a big ?
As having never bred bettas before or raising fry, I don't know what the young fry tail types look like at this stage. CT + VT = combtail, but there would probly be CT and VT's aswell (this I'm unsure about, hopefully theshadowinc will help me to identify whats going on. He has been a big help, and one of the reasons I have got this far  )

I would like to reserve at least 3 ladies!

No promises, let's see what happens.

I was doing this just before christmas, then my PC died. I have just got to wire my HD back into my new one again to download the file.

Hi mate,

Black worms I have googled many times with no luck of finding them yet in the UK, maybe I'm looking in the wrong places. As to frozen foods I have tried BBS, they will not touch them. I have had some luck with bloodworm though, and here's a few more pics. At first I selected the smallest worms but these were still to big for them to handle, so I have started to shave the frozen block before defrosting them.

any local stores that sell stuff like lizards etc, maybe try one of them tell them you are looking for small black worms though, then you will have to get a worm feeder to feed them from, they are the shape of a cone with slots in them you just put the worms still alive in the opening, just like how many puffer owners here feed there puffers. Then when feeding them like this you would add in the brineshrimp and bloodworms etc
Blackworms are also refered to a tubifex, I would just try a local centre that sells exotic stuff usually they would have them. LFS don't normally carry stuff like this. If they are starting to eat blood worms now thats a really good thing soon they will try the brine shrimp you might have to grate them like you would cheese to feed them due to the size of the fry hehe. Wow looks like you got alot of crowntail out of the batch i can see the tail types in the pictures already. I have to say this for a first time breed very very nice red colour it almost hurts my eyes hehe

Worst is on the blackworms you would have to get them shipped in from california

Working out great for ya in a few months I would say maybe 1-2 months they should be near sellable size once weind off of live foods
