Hello.

Can different species of Corys breed with each other, or do they have to be the same species in order to reproduce? I read a post tonight from someone who had two kinds of Corys and said s/he was going to get babies that would be a cross. I have three Corys in my tank, each a different species. I don't know if they're males or females, but I'm wondering if they could interbreed.

Thanks!

now, i'm no cory breeding expert, but i would think it shouldn't be much different than if a black lab and a german shepherd got together. you'd have a cross, but i don't see why it wouldn't be able to reproduce. but then, i don't know a whole lot about fish biology, maybe the mix would result in a sterile abomination :p . but i swear some cories are actually mixes of others, theres one out there i swear looks like they took a panda and mixed it with a spotted or a jullii, its spotted but also has the dark bands. but what do i know? just my two cents. if they are willing to school with each ohter, maybe they would try to get together................ :dunno:
