Did I ruin my filter ?

I was cleaning my tank just now, and managed to get the intake too close to the bottom and it sucked up some sand and has stopped working. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it still didn't work. It's just a cheap whisper 2-5, but I don't have the money to replace it right now. Any ideas ?

Yeah it's probably broke, try running some hot bath water and washing it out real good.
