hello everyone.
i made a huge 6'long,12'wide and 7ish' deep, has a water lily and 2 other NOID plants in it.its made of cement, had stayed like this with water for a month to neutralize the leaching lime.then dis a full water change.and forgot to mention...it has 3600 us gallons of water....yikes:d
water is crystal naturally with a slight greenish tint due to excess sunlight and its been this way for over 4months.i think that means it is naturally balanced.
it also has some frogs naturally of course and the frogs are goin mad reproducing. which to me...i think is a sign that the pond is biologically established.
it has huge surface area and the surface is always moving a bit.which means good gaseous exchange...right.
so the question is can i keep some goldies in it.. if yes then how many?and i think it doesnt need any filter with all the natural life thriving in it..a sign of a nturally balanced ecosystem.so can i run it without any gadgets..you know...like a natural pond??
and can i keep any other fish in it?though only goldfish is fine for me.

7 foot deep? Wow thats deep!
As it stands you could probably have a fair few goldfish in there. Add a filter and you could have alot more :) maybe even Koi.

that sounds like a nice swimming pool!, i've seen koi kept in smaller things than that, so i think that goldfish or koi would do fine, but with a filter, you might even manage some beautiful brook trout in a pond that size  ohh, brook trout are just soooo good to catch and eat :shifty:

hi shahrezsyed
i would love to see pics of the pond its big and 7foot deep wow  im jealous
you could definatley keep koi in that, but goldies are dirty fish and koi are even dirtier still so you will have to filter , the waste build up will cause ammonia and nitrite problems and can easily kill the fish, look for a filter double (or bigger if if your planning on keeping lots of fish ) the size of the water volume of you pond

can i go for a huge garbage can and fill it with biomedia and cut two large holes on the upper side and the lower side and cross water through the biomedia through a pond pump and a hose?
and how will the fish poo be recycled??
i can even keep some hardy tropicals in there too cuz winter never goes under 10...some times 5 more 1 or 2 hours.
so any fish, snail or similar thing that will eat the fish poo or something.
you,ll have to wait a whole week to see pics cuz its not in my home, its in the farmhouse.
so i,ll post pics when i go there next week.
and yes we have a pond with double size for trout....i know....yum yum.
:D

hi the poo well be sucked up via the pond pump the poo will then end up collected by the media or settle on the bottom of the filter, you will have to clean it out when needed
