Diatom Filter

I found a diatom filter at a store and have no clue what it is. What do they do and it says the filter media is so small and what not it can even filter out ich.

Diatom filters have very fine diatomaceous earth filter material. They are sometiems used for polishing really clean tank water but clog very easily and are a specialist item. Unless you really know what you are doing, forget it.

Good husbandry will make sure Ich is not a problem, and if it is, a UV steriliser will be a lot more efficient, a lot less bother and probably a good deal cheaper.
