I have brown algae on my plants and my buddy mentioned something about diatoms. How can i get rid of this? Leave the light off for a few days? Get ottos? Decrease my light time during the day? Thanks for the help in advance!

I got rid of diatoms on my mbuna tank by wiping everything off every other day as I did large water changes. Took about a month, but they are gone. My bigger tank has a pleco in it who made fast work of the diatoms!

Diatom algae is harmless, but ugly. Don't get a fish to combat it. When it's gone, they won't be happy. Wipe it off and in about a month, it will be gone for good, hopefully.

Okay cool! Do i need to wipe it off like everyday? Or just one time in that month period?
