Has anyone had the use of 'Seachem Prime". I saw it in Practical Fishkeeping mag and wondered what other people thought. I went to the Seachem site and read up on it. It says it tackles chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. It also claims to detoxify nitrItes and nitrAtes. As i am still new to this i wondered what others thought of this product or similar products that claim to do the above.

my opinion is that they are a very good way for the company to make money and give you a false sense of security when a little patience, vigilance and good old fashioned water changes will do the same thing and be much healthier for your fish. jmho

Hi mrswoman2000 :)

If your tank is cycled, and not excessively stocked, you will not have to worry about ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. In fact, if you get rid of them your beneficial bacteria will have nothing to eat and will probably die.

IMHO, It's best not to interfere with nature. :D
