I'm not happy with my current Tunze nano doc skimmer, doesn't really produce that much skimate, just a bit of greenish liquid, so its not giving me much value I don't think.

I've also decided I want an external HOB skimmer instead of internal.

My tank is 180 litres, 47 US gallons roughly, so it between the Deltec MCE300 or MCE600. I think the MCE600 will be slightly too big and a bit overkill, I think it might remove all my planktonic material in the water for the corals, I add phytoplankton most days you see.

What do you guys think?

If you add plankton (i assume phyto) you can turn the skimmer offf for a few hours, lots of people go this route. I have mine on a timer that switches off the skimmer for 3 hours at 8pm when my main lights go off. I then add the phyto then so the corals get as much out of it as they can before the skimmer comes back on.

If you tank hasn't got much of a bio-load and you are aslo running a dsb/calurpa bed then thw skimmer might not have much to pull out?
