Well i'm afraid you are wrong there, on this forum you don't have any rights other than those granted to you by the rules, and if people have a problem with those rules then its best that they find another forum to post on where the rules are more to their liking.
The forum may be free to join but it is still privately owned and members are here as guests of the owner and must abide by the rules which are set out and enforced by the moderating team. Think of it like a private members club which has a dress code, if the bouncers say you can't wear a pink shirt then they don't have to explain why they just tell you you're not coming in, those with a problem with authority will usually quickly find themselves on the wrong end of a size 10.

I've been a moderator here for over 5 years and in that time many a person who has disagreed with the rules and the way we run things has come and gone, some through their own choice and others by means of bans, i'm still here and they are not.

So you see you are the one who has to like it or lump it, not the moderators.

I aint said anything about rules though, i simply was giving my opinion on deleted posts which seems to have gone off topic a bit :shifty:

My opinion was just like others and since when was a opinion not welcome or entitled?

So your basically going on about rules where as we was acutally on about deleted posts/threads, i said that editing a post to appropriate manner was better than just deleting it without a explanation which in my opinion is a fair comment as well.

I dont really care how long you have been a moderator, and i have not disagreed with rules, or care whos come and gone, i was just stating a way that would be better to go about doing things and if you dont like that, then im sorry but thats not my problem.

Im not trying to get myself warned or banned, i just say what i think and if ppl disagree then thats fine.

Rule 2: The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this bulletin board. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary.

It doesnt say anywhere that we have to give any reason or inform the poster their post has been removed.

Rule 7: The admins and moderators have final say, they reserve the right to suspend your membership if you are suspected to be in violation of these rules.

So in future it would be appreciated if you kept your opinions on how the site is run to yourself, if we wanted a discussion on any aspect of how the board should be run we would start a topic asking everyone.

guys, listen to CFC. becuase all this over some deleted posts/threads. it is soooo simple, just dont post them in the first place! how easy is that! keep your thoughts to yourself.

Or maybe there would be a subforum with the description ;)

If anyone is having problems with the fish forums or, have suggestions to make the forum better. Post here and the Admin/Moderators will sort it out.

All I see are people offering up suggestions how to "make the forum better" and moderators bleating about follow the rules or else....

This topic was done some time ago, the mods then seemed to start doing it, it's obviously been forgotten about, but still remains a valid suggestion. just because it isn't in the rules, doesn't mean it can't/shouldn't be done.

I'd be interested to see how many reported threads there are to see why some of the mods don't have enough time to do things politely, plenty of them seem to have had the time to write long PM's to me whining about me attacking them whenever I voice any criticisism.

If there is not enough time for the mods to do things correctly, then either more mods are needed or more commited mods mods are needed to replace those who aren't upto the task.

Yes I can take it or leave it and go elsewhere, or I can suggest how to improve things and justify that suggestion, that is presumably why William saw fit to add this very forum?

Arfie ;)

lol...

Why have a suggestions board then?

So if your saying keep my opinions to myself, then surely that means everything in the suggestion board falls under that comment.

ps, i aint telling you how to run the site, im simply suggestion a more freindly approach. (whats the harm in that, like you say, its up to you what to do with it)

Just to add.....

whats this say? (i didnt put that there)

My, my... two posts and a pm to tell me that I've been "owned". Then another half-dozen posts of arguing with the mod team. Feeling a little defensive perhaps? All this time for getting mad and no time to actually read the arguments of your peers. Good thing you aren't a mod, isn't it?

Uh, what you on about..

Why are we arguing? we are having a constructive conversation in my eyes.

Ps, you had no responce to your mistake though did ya ;)

Guys, I know I'm basically a "nobody" here, but this is getting a bit childish and pointless, isn't it?

what mistake? if you can't be arsed to spend time reading what someone else has to say in one post, then you've no right to demand that the mods spend an equivalent amount of time in repeated instances. i don't give a crap about what you interpret the mods' responsibilities to be--if you're having a discussion, then you should take the time to read what your opponent has to say. at least skim over it and don't waste time saying, "haha, I'm lazy and disrespectful"

it is ironic that you can't be bothered to spend 20 seconds once, but demand others spend 20 seconds over and over

Again, im not a moderator, and im not asking mods something for myself, but for others..

Im NOT demanding, it was a SUGGESTION, for something MODERATORS could do not MEMBERS

Anyways, this i really boring me now as its obvious ignoarance is easier than being freindly ;)

ps, questions aint been answered and are being ignored, people are just replying to be clever and point out irrelivant things

not trying to get in on the argument just pointing something out

it may not be in the rules, but as mods i would of thought that you can be curtious (i know thats not how you spell it ) enough to just explain to the original poster why his/her post has been deleted
