Our freezer broke down on Wednesday which had about 12 blocks of bloodworms in, which defrosted. I put them in the fridge, but how long can I use them once defrosted? For human consumption it is 24hours, but I guess fish are a bit more resilient. I don't want to poison them, but would like to use as many as possible. They are in the little plastic pots with foil on them which you can buy frozen. I think the brand is Ocean nutrition.

interesting q...that i dont really have an answer for.
i guess when they start to smell bad they are bad. sorry thats the best i could do. even in the fridge, their "shelf life" should be extended as opposed to just leaving them out on the counter or something.
good luck

Have you got, or can you get, one of those styrofoam coolers and lots of ice?
Perhaps if you can re-freeze them, they can be salvaged - they're so expensive...

Edit: typos on sale now, however, 3 for the price of one, limited time only, I hope...

Re-edit: didn't see that was posted yesterday - sucks big-time, as you'll be losing nearly all of that...
Too bad you couldn't have sold it at a discount to a fish store or local fish forum members or something, and have got a bit back of what you'll have lost.

Frozen bloodworms lose most of their nutritional value in a matter of minutes after being thawed. When feeding them to your fish, it is best to use them as soon as they thaw. As far as going bad, I have no idea how long it might take but once there is little nutrient value left, why use them at all.
