I have a pseudotropheus deep magunga, and I've always assumed it was a female, because it is gold in colour. But off and on it starts to pick up stripes like the male. It has been a muddy colour for about a year now. It shows off to my caeruleus like it's a male. I've had the fish for over 2 years, and it doesn't have any fellow deeps in its tank. It's a real bugger to catch, and I don't know if it's worth ripping apart the tank, and stressing out all the fish to know.
I would like to breed the fish, and knowing the violent nature of deeps, I don't want to assume wrong and end up with dead fish.
Any suggestions or guesses?
