And right off the bat the betta decides its going to hunt everything that moves. Tank is 10g.. I added 1 small female betta, maybe 2'' long. She started trying to eat the baby pest snails, then stalked a little amano shrimp I got today (labelled ghost shrimp, paid 89 cents).. Started pecking at the apple snails feelers..

I hope the betta loses interest fast.. If it doesn't I might try adding a few more and see if they will bother each other and leave the snails and shrimp alone.

Betta's are carnivores. They will go after the little snacks that you've added for her... well she considers them snacks that you added. The apple snails should learn to pull in their antennae when the betta comes stalking but the baby shrimp and snails are fair game for her.

Are you feeding her enough?

I had just put her in the tank.. she inspected the tank for maybe 10 seconds, then spotted an amano shrimp and stalked the little bugger. Will have to check on them and make sure all is well. If not I can always move her by herself and try another female. It probably wasn't intelligent picking the brightest dominant female in the tank..

I tried adding amano shrimp to my single male betta's tank (6g) . *As soon* as I floated the bag in the water, he tried to gnaw his way through the plastic to get at them. Had to switch immediately to Plan B and put the shrimpies into a different tank (where they are currently getting bigger and fatter by the day  )

Yea I removed the betta after a few days.. It killed a small apple snail, and I saw it trying to kill a few of my ramshorns. I've only seen 1 amano shrimp lately, and I used to have 2. So there's a chance she got to one of them too.

She's now with all the other bettas.. she's brightened up quite a bit and is making a bubblenest.
