Just checked. It's $4 for 10 capfuls. So my friend doing daily changes on his 75 g would need a bottle a week.

That's not right; you've gone wrong somewhere in your sum; 100ml treats 1000 (US)gallons

Without a doubt buy a bigger bottle if you are doing larger or more frequent water changes. If you are buying 50ml bottles for $4 you are wasting a lot of money, I'm seeing 2l online for $45.

I wouldn't go the cheap route with dechlorinator until you have a real good handle on what your water supplier does when & why. If you really want to be cheap about it, and aren't too worried about the ammonia created from the chloramine, pick up some sodium thiosulfate crystals. For somewhere around $10 you could dechlor anywhere from 30,000 to 150,000 gallons of water.

Hehe. My water is good. It comes from a community well and is fairly mildly treated. It's y friend I'm thinking of here.

It may just be treated with chlorine then, though I would be concerned with any heavy metals as with any other well water. If it's a small enough supplier you may be able to call & talk to them, find out what they are treating with & get a printed report.

They send a report. I use the chemicals anyway.
