Hi guys,
Sooner or later I'm going to have to buy an extra filter for my 29 gallon because the Juwel will definitely not cope with the inevitable 30 odd adult bristlenoses (I'm selling them when they reach about 2.5"). I'm not really sure what to get, I discovered Allpondsolutions and this filter HERE but I'm a little cautious because it seems very cheap, has anyone had one before? Then, also from APS I saw this one Here but it costs a bomb (for me) so by the time I had enough money I would have sold the fish anyway  . I just need pointing in the direction of a good, cheap filter that I can use as an extra to the standard Juwel and also it needs a fairly high flow rate to provide a bit of flow, as the Juwel it quite slow.
Thanks Guys :)

PS. The Juwel does 400l/h
PS again, the most I can spend is about 20 GPB without saving up.

I have heard nothing put good reports about APS filters, i know a few people have them on here and they haven't said a bad word. I'd buy one if i was looking to upgrade.

the second aps filter is excellent value for money and you wont find a cheeper external of that size, had mine 12 months now and its faultless.

I think the stock filter is fine at the moment, the addition of a circulation pump would greatly help filtration, or you could upgrade the current pump to a more powerful one.

I would actually prefer to take out the current filter and replace it with a better one such as the external APS one, but my parents get really, sort of angry, when I suggest upgrading any of the hardware included with the tank  . I would like that filter but its a bit to expensive (I know its cheap for what it is, but money is very limited) :/ Does anyone have the internal one?
Looking into the Aquaclear side of things.

Got the 1400 with UV APS filter being delivered tomorrow, so will give my initial verdit then.

Keep your eyes peeled on Ebay, Gumtree and Aquarist Classified, there's always cheap externals popping up on there, which might not get you a grilling from your parents ;)

Never had externals until i got aps ones

I have two 2000ef's and my mom has one (the same)

Her one runs her rio 240 quite nicely without the uv on

I now have two running in a 150g imp tank and can't fault them

Moms and my first one have been running a good 6mths, my second one not as nearly as long

No problems so far, spares are easy to get from aps if needed as is any extra ceramic/bio-balls/floss (on the ebay site they have added the impellers for a mere £5 with free delivery ;) , if needed they will get any other spare you'd require)

Later on i'm treating the future missus to a nice sized beta tank, and yet another aps external will be bought

Also i've heard only good things thus far about them, they are made in china, almost a direct clone of the tetratec one (if not exact except colour and uv) , used to worry about tools etc being made in china, but things have come along way since the late 70's lol

Ya pays ya money and takes ya chance

Only 100% thing guaranteed in this life is death, everything else i class as 99.9% guaranteed, so with that said, it's back over to you

Tony

One word - Aquaclear. Cheap, powerful, effective.

agree aquaclear filters and my fav. They are great just as good as a canister filter IMO I have aquaclears on my 100gal 36 gal and 20 gal. I run 2 canister filters on my 80gal. I find my aquaclear filters do just as good of a job and are very easy to clean.
