I caught an "eatin`" catfish a while back.
It was saying "no no no no no".
I SWEAR it was.
Freaked me out,lol.

We used to have Gouramis that loved being petted. They would swim to us wiggling and all excited.

I ALWAYS catch my fish with my hands I tryed to use a net but I just couldn't catch them as fast the kept darting away or through creavses (I usualy catch my danios in 3 secondsby just chaseing them to a corner). and my fish still hand feed and If you pull a fish out of the water for 30 seconds its not anymore stressfull than you beeing under water for thirty seconds exept that fish dont need to worry about swalowing air (exept puffers and the like) besides these are fish from the wild so they are strnger than aquarium stock.

Does anyone know where I can get a wild caugth betta?

ah, the million dollar question i've been searching for some wild stock myself. i saw one website in america where the breeder specializes in "wild" stock. i can PM you the link if you want. other than that yuour best best is to go straight to the source, by that i mean thailand. there are a number of sites up by thai breeders but be warned, there is a strong thai cartel at work and no one will sell you a pair for breeding purposes, you really can only get males.

Now to complete the hijacking of this post HeHeHe

I think it is kind of weird that there would be a cartel centered around a small brown fish but some strange stuff goes on across the seas. From what I hear the wild ones are less aggressive and less Territorial and yes please PM me the link.

as far as catching fish in B.C. goes if you have a 300 gallon tank you can keep just about any type of trout and there are cold water carp and sucker fish too. Best of all they require no heater. Here in AK we have arctic grayling (they are Salmonoids) and they have the most beautiful purple sail fin If I ever get the money I'll build a pond and stock it with these beauties and I would love too breed for exaggerated color. They are the slowest growing of all the salmonoids and they have long lives which makes them great pond fish.

Oh and too bring it all home I have held several grayling in my bare hands just before cleaning them. Unfortunately for the grayling they are a tasty fish.

it's a cartel of breeders, it's standard practice in thailand to protect your bloodlines, that includes wild bettas which are sadly becoming more rare as development and industry take over the enviromment. if you take the time and effort to establish a lineage would you feel comfortable giving it all away to someone else? i have been told that this reasoning applies to other animals such as dogs etc. as well. it's very hard to purchase a pair of purebred dogs to breed in thailand (not that you probably would anyways seeing as there are hundreds of thousands of "wild" city dogs overrunning bangkok and everywhere else. on the subject of dogs, you hardly ever see anyone taking their dog for a walk (even on a leash) in bangkok because of the many roving wild dog gangs. a "pet" dog wouldn't last a minute if it found itself in the wrong place at the wrong time. sad but true reality over there. it was a big eye opener for me to see all the neglected dogs sleeping under overpasses and wandering around downtown, all the females were pregnant too. they were everywhere, lucky for them it seemed they were very street smart. lately it seems some people are taking advantage of homeless dogs by making them beg for change on street corners.

I'm jealous of people who have found a way to make a living doing that fun stuff!!!
I love to wade in streams and catch and release little bugs n shrims and fish... the few times I get to do it out side of the US I always seem to have some person screaming at me..NO NOT THAT SNAKE IT WILL KILL YOU!... I think my passions will be the death of me one day
