Hi all...am a little confused.

Ive just been sat watching my barbs, and noticed one was acting oddly. All of a sudden, it turned upside down as it it had aquired SBD all of a sudden, did a major dash around the tank - faster than ive seen it move, and then stopped and sank - as soon as it did this, its mouth opened into a large O shape - not gasping or anything, and it appears to be dead.....

Ive obviously just witnessed a fish die (ive netted it just to make sure it is) But what on earth just happened here??

Water param's all good ammonia 0, nitrites 0, Nitrates hovering around 5 and ph 7.2

Just like humans, fish can have things like heart attacks and strokes, all sorts of problems completely unrelated to bacteria, virii or fungal infections.
Sounds like this could be one of those things.

Its funny you said that, cos this post title was originally "can fish have heart attacks".....
