Dead Molly.

Yesterday after feeding my fish some pellets and flakes, it was my first time i add an algea wafer. I have a molly fish which was eatingnit with another one. At night i found the molly dead the one that was eating the wafer. Could it cause it to die. My water stats are stable no changes.


Update: I lost another molly right after i did a water change. I made a water change and i added salt in the tank. At night i found my molly with any fin or even a tail. What might be happen?

sorry to hear about your loss, my mollies are always nibbling at the algae wafers i put in for my other fish and I don't think it has done them any harm.

The algae wafer shouldnt be the cause. I add them into my tank all the time for my pleco, except the other fishies gets to it first, including mollies.

Did you mean without a fin or tail? Like they had vanished? If so then it sounds like something is eating them.


Have you tested your water for Ammonia, NitrIte, NitrAtes? What are your readings? You might want to post in the Emergencies forum as there are plenty of very knowledgeable people in there who might be able to help you with your sick fish.

Yeah lost all its fins. just after changing the water. and feeding them. It was dead at the night.

Strange...how old is your tank? Do you have other fish in the tank? How long have you had the fish? I feed my mollies wafers all the time so I'm thinking you have something else going on.

I have the tank setup from 1 December 2006. I have a silver shark with them and a gourami. The silver shark will be given away soon. I am very sad in loosing the fish i want them to get me some babies. I had my molliy for about 1 week and evey. I use to have 10 mollies now i only have 4 of them. When they die they turn white. What could be the preblem.
