De Chlorinator Question

well what to do if adding dechlorinated water is not an option should you add water then dechlorinate or add de chlorine first then the water???

do you mean youre going to be adding your dechlorinator straight into the tank?

if so then add dechlorinator based on the entire volume of the tank , not the amount of water removed , then refill. i always turn my filters off during this process too ,

i got a new tank 212 litres so just was thinking what to do i cannot treat such a huge mass of water outside of the tank so

so i can add dechlorine directly to the tank with fish in it right??

buy a syringe and add the relevent amount to each bucket full of water.

with seachem prime i add 0.25 ml of prime to each 10 ltr bucket then add to the tank

well using a bucket is going to be tedious i was thinking if i could just use a water hose normally i age my water after adding anti chlorine for 7 days then use for my weekly water change but now i have no means to age the excess water and my 212 l is on a 4 ft stand so i was thinking if i could just add dechlorine and then water what do you think??

add enough dechlor and a bit extra just to be safe then wait a few minutes to get it circulated around the tank. get the tap up to temp and stick the hose in job done

ive just done this on my 6.5x2x2 tonight and it took 20 minutes for a 40% change

Just thought I'd add a question: Is is necessary to add dechlorinator at all? Because I have on occasion forgotten, with no ill effects. I have also heard of other people not using dechlorinator at all, as it has been harmful to their inverts.

What are your opinions on this?

thanks guys will try that next sunday when i have my scheduled water change lol now that is see i just asked this question a lot early well never hurts

and pest control : yes it is necessary to add dechlorine to the tank i've heard that it burns the gills of the fish not experienced it though i have a friend who bought a betta along with me but his died a few days ago he ad i had everything else in common fed both tetra bites 5 gallon fish bowl weekly water changes small bio filter just he did not add dechlorine instead of me trying to convince him on more than one occasions his fish still lived for more than 2 months and was deteriorating everyday until finally it died so yes

In theory, if you're not changing a lot of water, or you've let your water stand for 24 hours (and your water supply has no chloramine added to it) you could go without dechlorinating. However, given the potential risk ( like wiping out your entire stock ) and the low cost of dechlorinator I really, really don't think it's worth taking the gamble.
