About two weeks ago I purchased a male butterly Plakat from a LFS. It hada olive green body, and bright green and clear fins.

In noticed that the olive green color has started to "fade away" in parts of my Betta's body, revealing shiny green scales. Any idea what this is?

You said parts of his fins are/were clear? That is an expression of the marble gene (as is butterfly in a sense) and marbles are known to change colors as they age. Is he acting normal?

Have an old Digicam here, but it seem unable to focus close enough to get good pics of a fish. If I can get a pic of him now, you will actually see the darker colored scales giving way to the bright green scales.

When I saw him I classified him as a butterly since 40% or so of his finnage is "clear" (not sure what the propert term is).

He does laps on his tank and is an active fish. Actually I feel like he needs a bigger tank. Anything odd. He wont take pellets, but I have 3 other fish who won't either.

You don't have to worry bout the pellets. When i first bought the mg female, she WOULD NOT eat anything for almost 5 days. She had horizontal stripes all those days. She 'ate' the bloodworms and pellets and then spit them out. Now she'll gobble any pellets in sight (still hate bw like all my other bettas)
