Danios

hi all,iv got a 54L rectangle cold water tank with 4 goldfish & 4 peppered corys in (temp is naturaly 22-24 d C).the goldfish are moving to a pond soon so i will be putting 7 white cloud mountain minnows (that iv got in a small tank) in with the corys.id also like to put some danios in,can anyone reccomend the best type for my tank & how many i should get as im a novice & never had danios before so i havent got a clue.thanx. x

To be honest 54ltr is too small for std danios (zebra,leopard etc).
depending on the actual footprint of the tank, I'd suggest dwarf danios Danio nigrofasciatus
although 24c is the absolute lowest temp for them
or better still danio erythromicron.

Agreed,
I would suggest just adding the white clouds & you'll be about fully stocked anyway. White clouds probably get bigger than you expect.

Hmm....how big do they practically get?

Or perhaps you could answer a more specific question: I'm going to use them as the only dither for hillstreams in a 29g tank. How many do you suggest I get? (I never kept them before).

I have measured one at 2" SL

Half a dozen works ok

thanx for the info my tank is The-Wolf & diademhill.my tank is 2ft x 1ft x 1ft but my mate is giving me a tank within the next month or so that she had made a few years ago that is 3ft x 2ft x2ft (dont know how many litres or gallons that is,sorry),so all the fish wil eventualy end up in there once i get it & its cycled etc.i know the white clouds can get to 2" in length but like i said,i would likesome danios aswell.so can you reccomend any danios that would be ok in my smaller tank while im waiting toget this biggertank & while its cycling etc?

D.erythromicron was formerly know as microrasbora erythromicron
and is sometimes called Emerald Dwarf Rasbora or Dwarf Emerald Rasbora
ask your lfs if they can get it under those names.

A 24"x12" footprint will be ok for WCCMMs or ZD/LD but not both.
I'd start with the WCMMs and then when you have you other tank, add the danios of your choice.
