I've got 3 zebra danios currently in my tank, and it's been a month now without any deaths. I was wondering what other small fish they would be compatible with. I'm guessing neon tetras would be alright and barbs wouldn't be so good. But any info would be appreciated.

Before adding another, different species of fish, I'd really like you to consider adding more Zebra Danios. They are schooling fish - and much more active and happy (which makes them healthier!) if they're in a school of at least 6. I'd suggest you enlarge your school before looking at other fish.

about to say the same thing, depending on your tank size, you should get the 3 extra danios, and then think about adding other small fish like neons, or small loaches. Kuhlii Loaches might be good.

Hi jazzx101, I agree with Juile and Eelzor that you need some more zebras to make a small school. As far as stocking goes it all depends on your tank size. Dont forget the one inch of fish per gallon guideline (when fully grown). Barbs are ok with danios but they are schooling fish also so you would need at least 6 of them. Cherry barbs are smaller and behave differently to tigers, tinfoils etc (not so aggressive) Platys, swordtails, mollys, gouramis, corys, plecos are all compatible with danios The best way is to try to get fish that will stay in different ares of your aquarium. IE: danios mostly like to be near the surface. Corys mostly like the bottom. Plecos mostly like the glass and wood. Gouramis will go everywhere. Platys like the surface but will roam also.

hi there
im no expert but i agree with the others, we've only got 2 danios(m&f) at the moment cos of some deaths over the past few months. theyre in with 6 tiger/green barbs, 11 neons, 5 red eye tetras a yoyo, 2 corys & they all get along v well, the barbs or others never bother the danios, & we're going to get some more danios to make there group bigger - up to 6 i think, theyre brilliant little fish arent they - always zipping around at a million miles an hour :)
