After several years of on off trying, this morning I have got D Nigrofasciatus spawning in a breeding tank.

havent seen any eggs flyng (light is subdued) but much chasing around, fish with barbels protruding and then two come close together and wrap around each other, on one occasion they dived vertically into the mop of ehfifix I am using as a (large) spawning mop.

:band: :band:

Just hope the eggs are ok

5 fry visible just now newly hatched and on the bootom. Am expecting quite a few more to be hidden by the marbles and the ehfifix spawning mat.

They are Tiny :look:

I've had fry a couple of weeks and I'm not convinced the breeding net i have them in is small enough (the netting that is). Sometimes when i look at the net they is one danio fry on the outside of it, stuck to it. Maybe it was trying to get in for dear life! So I managed to net it and put it in. I counted 15 Danio fry, I doubt fifteen will make it. :/

I seem to lose about 50% max so you should get some.

Seen 8 fry now :)

Got 15-20 free swimming fry.

Apparently 20 or so eggs is not unusual for this fish. 50 is a good average and 100 max from a big'un.

Accounts for why the commercial breeders have never bothered with this species.

Pity because they knock spots off the leopard, if you excuse the pun! :D
