Dangerous Fish

Thanks for that Fruitbat, now i'll be a nervous wreck everytime i have to work on my Heteropneustes fossilis tank

As a keeper of most of the "dangerous" fish mentioned i have to say that unless you are pretty unlucky or clumsy they are all fairly harmless, i have had a good sized bolt from my electric catfish when i accidentally startled him and that was enough to knock me onto my butt and make me bite my tongue hard enough to make it bleed but other than that i haven't had any bad encounters with any of my others (stingrays, fossilis cats, electric eel and Allenbatrachus grunniens plus a few toothies)

An extreemly painfull wound inflicted by a fish was caused by a friends Sorubim lima when we were moving their tank, as we netted the fish it made a leap for freedom and was flying through the air heading for the floor, i caught it before it landed and got speared in the fleshy part between the thumb and forefinger by its pectoral fin. The pain was immediately intense and within a few minutes the area around the wound had swollen to around 3 times the size, the deep throbbing pain worked its way up my arm right to the elbow and lasted for several hours.

Another time before that i had the pleasure of almost having my wrist broken by my jardini arowana which jumped out of the water and hit my wrist with full force as i reached over the tank during a water change, the pain from that lasted a couple of weeks and even cost me a couple of days off work as i couldn't move the wrist at first.
