Well, as some of you may know i was looking at the Pseudotropheus species but decided not to get any.
So when i was still deciding or not, i showed my Uncle and Aunt what i wanted to get(saulosi). So i thought he didn't really care and i decided not to get any, but yesterday they come over with one!
Grrrr. and im not sure if it is even a saulosi. Its not yellow and its not even blue. It has yellow fins, with black edges but is grey for the body, but shines blueish/purple in the light
And i having been seeing some pics, and they dont look anything like the one i have.
I may take a trip to the lfs they got it from and see if it really is a saulosi.
But it will probably stay in my tank, if things go well

Wrong topic....

lol I jsut read about the upside down catfish that died in the stocking a 60 gallon.

Got to appreciate the thought behind the fish no matter. Super cool of him to remmeber and try to get you one. How often do they visit now tho cause you'll have to keep it since you know they are gonna be wanting to see it every time they visit.

Got any pics? Post what it really is when you figure it out.

yellow fins... greyish body that seems bluish in the light...

Sounds like you've got yourself a Pseudo. Acei DD. If this is so then you should really take him back or get more - they are as close to shoaling fish as mbuna get, and along may prove to docile to handle all those labs alone. Then again sometimes loner fish end up thriving anyway - but still, a shoal is best.

Hmmmm, okay
Will do.
But the thing is, he doesn't look like the Acei my LFS had.
I looked closer at him and the blue ish colour are in stripes on his body, though he is a juvie.
I'll post pics later, just to make sure.

EDIT:Damn...came out too big

That's no Acei. Don't know what it is. Heck, may as well keep it and see what he turns into. If he ever starts causing trouble it's just as easy to take it out later as now.

Yeah, just what i was thinking
I'm going to go to the LFS today or tomorow and find out what it is.
It's definitly a risk keeping it, but right now its only an inch so it poses no threat to my other fish.
Thanks for your help Freddy

I'm just barely getting into Cichlids, and while I was looking for suitable tank-mates for my Electric Yellows, I found a pic that looked kinda like your fish. So while I may be totally wrong... it kinda resembles "Lamprologus multifasciatus" ...maybe?

Lamprologus multifasciatus are Lake Tanganyikan shell dweller cichlids and dont resemble much of the cichlid i have.
Thanks for trying though

I was thinking, could it be a possible hybrid of some sort?

DD
EDIT:I think i have it!
could it be a P.Saulosi in transformation, but a bit younger/pre mature?

Unfortunately it's all to easy for it to be one with the combination of these easy hybridizers and irresponsible fish owners plaguing the hobby. Fortunately there's so many species from these lakes that it's hard to say if it is or isn't at this point. I haven't seen one like it.
