Damn Snails!

I have same problem and just bought some clown loaches. The first ones only ate food and I returned them after squashing snails to get them a taste and still no luck. Another lfs had them in a tank with plants and they took to the snails immediately (not sure this is a good sign to get any plants there in the future! )

In just a couple of days, the snail population is noticeably smaller. I even saw one of the clowns poking at one off the glass. They do get quite big, but are very slow growers. When they get too big, I'll probably trade them in given I don't fall in love with them by then. They are fun to watch their antics in the tank.

Unless you have fish that will eat the snails it is best to squash them, no need to remove the bodies the fish will eat them. I did not kill the snails at first and I was over-run, they blocked up the sponges in the filter. I have an apple snail so could not use a treatment for it as it would have died too. :)

This might not be ideal for those of you with smaller tanks but Giant Gouramies eat them up...also there has been mention of the loaches and from what I have heard is that the Skunk Loache is the Loach best for snail problem.

Currently, since the snails number are increasing in my tank, all my fishes almost died, the records of the tank looks normal, no symptoms on the fist can be noticed, but everyday I find one dead.

I do not know what to do, but is it possible to be the snails.

Please I need an answer.

Hiya Meda - This thread is actually a very very very old thread if you look at the dates on each post. I suggest create your own post in this section, or in the 'New to the hobby' section.

And I'm sure people will be happy to help.
