Dalmation Molly Breeding Questions/ Etc.

I have recently bought a Dalmation molly and a orange and black molly, they are both males and i am hoping to get a female. About 4 minutes ago my dalmation molly lept out of the bowl, the weird part is, is that hours before then he was circling the botten of the tank with another fish ( Suckerfish).
And how do i tell when the fish are breeding when i never even see them well, i think you know. My real question here is, is what is going on with the female molly? And is it a good idea to cross breed molly fish? ( Dalmation (F) Sunrise ( M).

Hmmm. sounds normal to me......maybe telling us the water's state would help. I don't think it is a bad idea to cross breed mollys, well I did cross livebearers in my fish breeding life...... I saw male guppys mating with female mollies,female swordtails and female platy.......but nothing had happened frys were never even born. the point is, it is okay to cross breed fishes encluding mollies as long as it does not pollut the species.

What does it look like when mollys are mating? My dalmatian molly and black molly are acting strange, they are basically rubbing eachothers sides together

Mating of common livebearers varies a great deal. In some, like endlers or swordtails, you will see courting displays by the male before he attempts a mating contact. In other fish, like guppies, you will see relentless attempts to make contact with little or no courting displays involved. In almost all of the pet shop varieties, the contact itself is very brief and can be easily missed unless you are watching closely.

Crossing color varieties of a single fish type is a cross only to someone who is trying to preserve a color pattern or create a new one by blending colors that they already have. As far as the fish are concerned, there is no cross going on as long as the other fish is the same species. All pet shop mollies are crosses of wild species but can basically be mixed easily with no inhibition to breeding by the fish. If you do not want a pair of mollies, any color at all, to breed, do not place them in the same tank. The same applies to shapes of mollies such as normal mollies breeding with balloon mollies.
