Hi all. Have tested my newish tank again an ph 7.5 ammonia nil but nitrites 0.7. This is a bit high?

If you have fish in there then yes, water change to keep it around 0.25 if possible.

How long have the fish been in the tank?

I've changed 20% of the water today. When should it be retested? I've had the tank about 5 weeks now. 5 guppies and 3 neons have been infor about 2 weeks I lost one male guppy after a few days but the rest are ok and feeding happily. I do one small feed a day. Sorry for delay in answering but have beetled down to my local TFS to browse and get some more essentials.

You really should have waited before adding that number of fish, but nevermind we all make mistakes. I would test everyday and water change as required, if you keep the levels low the cycle will complete soon and your fish should be ok.
