thankx..those links were helpful..... maybe i can just add a few litres of water from my other tank ...when i do my next water change, that would work right??
and a couple plants, from the other established tank. Do u think this would work. :)

In fact, water doesn't help much - most of the bacteria lives ont he surface of the objects. So transferring gravels, plants or other objects would work much better.

If you can, the best way is to get the same power filter as the other tank, and move one of the sponge. This will pretty much guarantee instant cycle.

ya ..that is a good idea..but my tanks are different sizes...and the filters are different szes too...maybe i can just take the filter cartledge from the established tank and rinse it in the new tank....like dip it in or something...lol, u think this would work .?? :p

As it happens we simply rinsed our filter sponges from the 30g tank in our 105g tank when we set it up and it fishless cycled in 10 days so I would say it is helpful somehow! We couldn't take the sponges from the 30g permanently as we needed to keep that tank running. We also added 3 knee high stockings of gravel and a tank ornament from the 30g tank to the 105g tank. Full details of our cycle and what we did are in the link in my sig.

we've setup all our tanks from filter media from the 50gal...

they all have different filters BUT the 50 gal has 2 sponges. we take one of them out and replace it with a new one then fit the used one into the new tanks filter (squash it cut it whatever you can do) and away you go.

If you cant do that... cut the filtermedia in half and do the same with a new one so you can replace half and use the old half in the new filter...

i use cartlages in my pumps...i havva penguin 125 with a bio-wheel in the 29g., and a smaller tetra pump in the other 10g..they both use cartledges that slide in...i do have a pump with a sponge in it..but im not using it right now..maybe i can change carledges in the 10g..and just place the used one in the 29g for a couple days or so... :dunno: :D

Whatever it is worth, when I was cycling the 33g tank, I took the sponge from the 25g tank, smeared it inot the new sponge of the 33g tank, then I "washed" it in the 33g tank water.

I've added 10 fishes in one shot (fully prepared to swap out the new with old sponges if necessary) but I never saw any detectable levels of ammonia. Personally I believe if you rinse it well in the water, it does help significantly.

;) thankx everyone..already my ammonia levels are very low.0.25ppm, and nitrate level is also very low 0ppm. I have added the plants and rinsed the 10g cartledge in the new tank...i have added 2 tetras and they seem to be fine after 2 days :D so i think im ready too add more fish latter today or tomorrow... im eager to put my gouramis in the big tank...think it's ok yet??? :/ ..well i;ll look forward to ur replys!! :hyper:
