Hi,Is it ok to cycle my new set up with plants already in it?,I am getting a Juwel Lido 120,has anybody got one?,and do you like it?.

I I have got the Lido 120, Its a great tank! I have the T5 high output lighting version, lights are great on it!
Just starting to get my plants growing to where I want them to be. Great tank, but scratches really easy! So watch for that!
I am not sure on cycling!

Thanks,if i can get my tank looking as good as yours i will be very happy. :good:

if you are doing a fishless cycle...then plants are not recommended as they absorb the ammonia giving false readings. Welcome x :good:

Thanks for the advice, fishless cycling looks rather complicated, what do you think of these startup chemicals you can buy?,are they any good?.

You might as well pour them down the sink, they will do as much good there! Think about it, a bottle of good bacteria sat on a shelf for months . . . what has the bacteria got to feed on? Honestly a fishless cycle may seem hard now but read up in the beginners section and it will soon make sense!

Thanks, yes it does make sense,i was looking at Tetra start up bacteria today, and it occured to me what on earth are they all eating in that bottle while it sits on the shelf, unless they are in suspended animation [i dont think so].I will just have to be patient and do fishless.
