Cycling - Horrible Brown Algae

I have lots of plants in the tank and I was advised to feed them every day which I think has helped to increase the algae growth. I'm going to give that a rest as well!

you can never over feed nutrients are far as i am aware and I've read that on lots of sites. Your problem is all down to excessive light, nothing more. I'm no expert, but the problem is kinda standing out like a sore thumb to me here. Any pictures?
