Cycle® Biological Aquarium Supplement

I have used cycle for over a year and as far as I know its pretty good. I was told and box tells you to keep using it every week. I have been doing this but I have heard on this forum once you have your bacteria in your filter and you are "cycled" there is no point adding it. Im not going to add it any more but keep an eye on my water stats. For cycling a tank I would recomend it to speed up your cycle. :good:

Waste of money in a bottle.

General concensus is that Cycle is pretty much useless. First, the bacteria they say are in the bottle aren't the proper bacteria to cycle a tank. Second, most people believe that there is no way that the bacteria could survive the extreme heat the products (Cycle, Stress Zyme among other "bacteria in a bottle" products) encounter while being shipped in trucks (insides of trailers in summer months can easily reach 120F or more) and stored in warehouses that can be equally as hot.

And once your tank is cycled, you indeed do not need any more cycling aids. Once the bacteris is there, it will remain there unless something happens to kill it off.

Because it dosn't do what it says, added it after meds and it never quickened anything up.

Item is located here!

Is this a good item to use for the tank?
I have no idea but you are the first person i have seen here from missouri!! I thought i was the only one as most of the people here are from the u.k. I was alos thinking about trying that product to speed up the cycle process. Let me know if you decide to use it. Im from st. louis by the way...nice to meet you :good:

In the US, Bio-Spira is the only product that I know of that actually works... as long as it stayed refrigerated in the shipping and storage process. Bio-Spira is added to a new tank the day before the fish go in the tank and there might be a small bump in ammonia/nitrites but generally the tank is fully cycled for a proper bioload of juvenile fish. It's a one-time process and once it populates the surface areas and filter media, your tank stays cycled as long as you don't do anything to kill the good N-bacteria.

The other so-called bacteria-in-a-bottle products do not work any where near as good as Bio-Spira and IMO, they don't work at all. If they actually worked, you would not have to add multiple doses.

I understand there may be a product called Bactinettes over in the UK that is formulated after Bio-Spira. Marineland owns the patent for Bio-Spira in the US.
