id agree with Ski and say no, you will get a load of brown hair algea growth all over the place.
Unless you have one of those dinky new mini skimmer watsits in there aswell they keep it down well

What does cycle do that LR dosent vice versa.

erm i think the LR keeps the nitrate cycle going coz of the bacteria.
at least i think

Well im not that familiar with the product, so maybe someone with it infront of them could help more, but generally LR provides permanent filtration, seeding your tank with bacteria which will take your primary waste Ammonia all the way to Nitrogen. A chemical sold in a bottle is only going to be temporary.

LR has thousands of different forms of life growing on it and living in it while cycle has 2 species of bacteria in it. Which one would lead to the more balanced ecosystem?
