I am currently doing a fishless cycle on my 60gal and wondered is it is best to turn on the heater??? To enhance the growth of "good bacteria"???
Sorry if it is a dumbass question.

Not a dumb question as there are so many things about cycling on the web. You would definitely need the heater on. Bacteria growth increases as the temperature rises up to about 95F. For a fishless cycle, it is best to raise the water temp to between 85 and 90. If you haven't already read it, click the link on Fishless Cycling in my signature.

Hi ginge, aye thats right keeping the water temp up, say in the mid to high 70's will keep bacteria alive, keeping the temp too low will kill beneficial bacteria.

Hope this helps :)
