Finished my cycle - didn't update the log for the last few days but was showing double zeros so decided to take the plunge with some White Cloud Minnows.....got 6 from my local LFS and they seem to have settled well (one of them hides a lot so not sure if he's got a problem or is just shy?)

I've got a dilemma though as I'm going away on holiday for 3 weeks (in 3 weeks time) which makes me wonder if I should add some more fish or if I should wait in case something goes wrong while I'm away - a friend will be calling in to check on them every now and then but obviously won't be on hand all the time should something go wrong....

I'd ultimately like a shoal of Raspboras and Corys as well as some Green Swordtails and a Dwarf Gourami but I thought maybe I should wait till I get back before adding more fish? The main concern is that I will 'lose' the bacteria I've built up since I'll only have 6 fish and the ammonia they produce won't sustain the same amount of bacteria?

Anyone got any advice as to whether I should introduce say the Cory's now or whether its ok to wait and then slowly increase the stocking levels up after I get back?

Thanks in advance

Regards

Phil

Hi i would not add anything else before you go on holiday, the levels of bacteria will already be reduced, so you need to build the stock up slowly. :good:

what size is the tank? if you are putting minnows in there i'm assuming quite small. corys need space and a nice sand substrate and minimum numbers should be 6 of the same species. there are some small types that suit smaller tanks, but i wouldnt put any in anything less than 90 litres myself.
