The Taffy Apple
Fish Herder
Good morning all, i hope this thread finds you all well...
Anyway, for those of you that haven't read any of my previous posts regarding what situation i was in, here goes..
110L Tank, Fluval 205 external filter, sand substrate, 50cm bogwood, very lightly planted (at the moment!).
The filter took, in all, a little over 4 weeks to fully 'cycle'(including a 9 day 'Qualifying Week) although i did add a good handful of donated mature media on day 8. I recorded a slight 'stall' 2 weeks into my cycle (i've blamed it on very high NitrAtes), but a 40% water change soon sorted it out.
It is certainly true what they say about bigger tanks being easier to get up and running than small tanks, compared to my small 30L this tank was a relative breeze to get started!
Vistited my local M.A on friday, went there armed with knowledge of the first 3/4 types of fish i wanted and was greeted with a smile and some very helpful service... thumbs up Maidenhead Aquatics Wyevale (Swansea).
Anyway, i walked out with 10 X-ray (Goldfinch) Tetra and 7 Red Cherry Shrimp (plus some sort of tiny 'Rasbora' that found it's way out of the RCS tank into the bag!). All inhabitants seem happy and settled, they had their first feed yesterday and it was like feeding time at the zoo! Daily water tests will now be carried out and i intend to add another half a dozen or so community fish once i'm certain that enough time has passed.
All in all i am very happy with how it went, the information and knowledge i received on here was helpful to no end, so thank you very, very much to all those that contributed to helping me out..
Sincere regards,
Terry.
