Gorgeous pic Frank. Lovely looking fry. Is that brine shrimp in the belly?

Hi and thanks, all. Those are decapsulated, non-hatching bs eggs. I prefer them over newly hatched bbs as they offer higher nutrional value and do not decompose, which the nauplii begin to do, almost immediately. When you factor in the time, trouble and clean up of hatching bbs, I just don't see the value in it. Speaking of value and I've never been accused of being a penny pincher, they cost significantly less than hatching eggs.

There are, of course, other situations that require the free-swimming artemia nauplii, but those instances are rare in the hobby in general and non-existent in my personal fish-keeping needs. I feed them to all my fish, even my largest Corys. All my fish relish them. - Frank

Very nice Frank :good: How many fry did you say you had out of this batch?
Hi. Well, they are holding up fairly well. I would guess there are about 50 across the 3 tanks they are now in. I did pass 12 fry off to ensure their survival outside of my fish room. They were placed with breeders who I know will work hard to preserve this extremely rare specie. There were originally 250 eggs.

The original spawning group is looking mighty frisky and just might be ready to go at it, again, soon. I can only hope. - Frank

beautiful pic... as always.
Where do you get non-hatching eggs? Are they something you have to use quickly, or can they be stored until used up. That would be cool to have, but I never have that many fry at a time. About how long do they stay good after you open them?
The fry are really cute. What do the adults look like?

They sell smaller quantities. I go through them quickly, so I don't know how long they keep.

I checked them out. I will have to save up to get that. The shipping doubles the price if you are only getting a small amount.
Thanks for the info.
Nice fish. :good:

Beautiful picture, Frank. Isn't nature amazing?

I've never used the decapsulated brine shrimp eggs, but if you like them, maybe I'll give them a try. :D

Thanks. One of my favorites - as is the fish. The fry are thriving.

One of the best products out there. I feed them to all my fish, even large Corys. After live black worms, they are the next best conditioning food for preparing a spawning group. - Frank

At the risk of derailing Frank's thread again, ICG, Fosters and Smith are carrying Attison's Baby Brine Srimp bottled/jarred. I have tried it. It lasts a month or more in the fridge after opened. The fish seem to eat it. It is tiny enough for fry. Atison's is a very reputable brand.

I guess I will have to look into the decasulated eggs too, Frank. And Of course the pics and fish are amazing!
