Cutting rhizome plants

Is it possible to cut all the leaves and trim the roots of anubias and bolbitis to the point where only the rhizome is stuck to structure? I'm asking because there's BBA on the roots and leaves of mine and I want to start afresh,but still want to use the plants

I believe so, I know when I propagate my anubias I snip along the line of the rhizome

I cannot say about Bolbitis, but can speak about Anubias.
It is possible, and sometimes it is the only option possible.
The plant will not be happy, but generally will eventually put out new fronds. I am siren it is possible to kill it by cutting too much into the rhizome. But constant attack on new propagules of BBA on rhizome or new growth will need to be made.
I have done a dual attack on BBA on some Anubias: 1) Cut all affected fronds and roots; 2) periodically apply Hydrogen peroxide (sprayed) onto roots, to kill left over BBA.
BBA is tough to eradicate completely and it cannot be thought of as a "once approach and done", where one does a treatment and it is gone forever. Most often it will not and a long fight is needed.

I will just remove the plant attached to whatever and do a 90 second to 2 minute dip in in a bleach solution that is 1 part bleach and 19 parts water. I rinse thoroughly and return to the tank. the algae is dead but still there. It will vanish in short order, often it gets eaten by the fish.

If I have to get wood wet by the bleach I will dip it all in a bucket of water with a strong dose of dechlor added for a minute or so.

The rhizome should sprout new leaves as long as it is not buried and there is some light present.

Been there, done that.
Amazon sword was overrun with BBA. Bleached it and stuck it back in the tank. Looks better than ever.
