I'm going to be getting another Bearded Dragon. I have one right now in a custom built tank that I got from a garage sale. I want to build another one. Here is the rough size of the tank that I want to make:

48-60" Long
18" Wide
18" Tall

How would I go about making a tank? Should I use Pexi Glass or Glass? How much is Glass and Plexi Glass? Where do I find Plexi Glass or Glass? What other materials do I need? How should I make a stand? Thanks!!!

well i wouldnt use plexi glass unless ur tlking like 1/5 inch thick stuff, and a 7 by 9 sheet of 1/5 inch plexi is like 700$ canadian sooo i dunno

ron, i'm sure, being in wisconsin, you have a home depot nearby somewhere. they sell sheets of plexi and thin glass. since this isn't for a fish tank, you could use the thinner glass (think glass used in picture framing) or the plexi. you'd have to price it, but its not too bad in my opinion. i purhcased a small amout for a makeshift lid for a fish tank once.

have you ever posted pics of your beardie? i'm a lizard lover, would love to see pics of him and of the new set up :D

I have so many pics of my fish, and reptiles on my computer. But when I try to post them here it says it can't upload that type of file. I have a few pics on my computer from a film dics that I can upload, but I don't have much pics on there.

So I take it Glass is pretty expensive...

Just called a few places, it's $33 a side!!! So I'm better off buying a 75 Gallon Tank (48"x18") for $120!!

Check http://www.mcmaster.com for the plexi and supplies. For a tank that's not gonna be holding much water, you can probably do 3/16" sheets.

Keep in mind however that for sheets bigger than 24"x48" (I think)... you're gonna pay extra for shipping :(

Thanks for the links and info guys!! I really appreciate it. But I'm not all that crafty with the tools and I think I'm just going to fork out the $120 for a 75 gallon tank. Now I just need to make a stand. Cement Blocks sound okay?
