Curious about Koi

Can Koi be kept in an aquarium as opposed to a pond and if so what would the gallon / fish ratio be?

minimum size pond for koi is 500 gallons so it's 500 gallon tank aswell.

it would need to be quite wide aswell so the koi can turn easily when bigger.

Its a heck of a lot easier to get a pond. I was suprised how small a pond has 500 gallons.

I wouldn't advise keeping Koi in anything less than 1000gallons, keep in mind that they can reach 40"+ and are constantly moving. If you have a 1000gallon tank than its just as good as a pond.
