Hey everyone. I have a weird question probrably, but I am trying to feed my pleco some cucumber and zuchini like I was told by a friend of mine to do. He also told me that my tinfoil barbs would love it, which leads me to my question.

How do I get the peices to sink in the tank for the pleco? Do I need to weigh it down? I have seen those little vegitation holders in the store, but I am assuming that this would only squish the cucumber/zuchini and not be affective. Otherwise, will a pleco be able to get peices that are just floating around on the top?

Thanks for helping me out!

Stick an ordinary dinner knife through it.

We bisect our cucumbers length ways and slice in sixths then skewer them between the white flesh and the green peel, with metal dinner knives, one on each end.
A whole cucumber makes six double ended cucmber kebabs, we feed three at a time to our plecs - but then, we have a lot of plecs.

I just put the cucumber in the tank and leave it floating. All the fish eat it and my Common Pleco gets it easily by suctioning with his mouth. They seem to enjoy it like that. I take the cucumber out after a day. Sometimes it has sunk by then but sometimes not. Some people use elastic bands to "tie" the cucumber down to a stone etc. It usually works but I have just read on another forum where a Pleco got serious injuries from getting entangled in the band.

A large stainless steel screw. They cost less than a buck, and no one complains about missing forks from the silverware drawer.

ive just this minute fed mine his cucumber i put it on a chop stick ,,,
its so easy to pierce cucumber on to it and its easy to get out

I go with plant leads, works well, and I'm sure everyone has them lying about in one of their fish boxes

I must admit I don't often weigh our cucumbers down. The plecs and other fish still get them fine if they are floating.

If we do weigh them down we use the planting stick. Shove it through one end and then it sinks.
